I came across the work of Ruvan Afanador in a magazine relatively recently and was immediately drawn to his work. All of his images appear to me as experimental. However in looking at his portfolio I realised that in actuality I had seen his work throughout the pages of so many magazines, but never knew it was his. As a photographer he has completed so many shoots for various beauty products and so he has worked his way through the genre. To me, even his editorial work seems to be focused around beauty imagery.
The aspect that drew me to his work was his use of lighting andfocus within the frame. The composition as an entirety is so well thought over and each aspect seems to compliment another. His work has a fluidity about it that I think will be a crucial element to creating the images I will be producing within this project as they should run as a series.
