I asked the make up artist I intend to use if she had any contemporary's she would be looking at in order to create the look I intended to create, and she suggested the work of Chris Colbeck and so I looked him up.
In looking at his work, I can navigate my way through a variety of ideas ranging from the extreme to the docile and natural. I don't believe that this project should ensue a vast amount of make up and artistry, as if I intend to use the work of graphic design I wouldn't want to detract to much attention away from that with lavish decoration. Besides which I think that by using an experimental idea in terms of make up will draw attention away from the idea of natural beauty and stray from the idea I have in the back of my mind. Although my concept is not exactly concrete at the moment and I am open to new ideas and inspirations, I do think that I have my heart set on a natural looking model within an empowering quality, and so the use of vivid colours within the makeup up as well as the illustrative designs will not work for my interpretation of the project.
I have found both images I think could work, if I were planning on using make up as an art, and also make up that I believe will work within the idea of natural beauty. Here are a selection from Chris Colbeck's portfolio.
